Today was another long, exhausting day. The majority of the exhaustion came from tending to Thing 1, who has decided to go insane the last few days. The kid is tormenting his brother far more than usual and refusing to listen to us unless we raise our voices beyond what we are comfortable raising them. The day started well. We packed into the car early and headed to Glen Maury Park to provide service to the city in the way of painting and picking up garbage. Things 1 and 2 had a great time helping and running around in the wide open grass. After our stint of garbage picking, I met a home inspector at the house on which Leah Marie and I made an offer. The owner had accepted the offer, but we made it conditional on the home passing our inspection. We had built up the property in our minds with fantasies about how great we were going to make it, then disaster struck. The inspector and his partner revealed far too many concerns with the property that we refuse to deal with. Even if the owner decided to address some of the major issues with repairs and rewiring, there are some things that just cannot be fixed (one side of the house more settled than the other, for example). So we will rescind our offer and keep looking for the the right house, which might not even be for sale yet. It's extremely frustrating to come so close to home-ownership and have it yanked out of our grasps.
