Final Hurdle
Southern Virginia University, which has been nationally accredited by the AALE (American Academy of Liberal Education) for about ten years, after working for the last few years to meet the requirements, received regional accreditation from SACS-COC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges), "the oldest, largest and most prestigious educational accreditor for the southern United States" (Deseret News). While the school has always provided students with a great education, the accreditation opens up many doors to us and to those students that were otherwise difficult to open. It is difficult to explain in even a long blog post what it all means, but this is an exciting time for Southern Virginia, with many more good tings to come.
