Heroes and Villains

This Friday I will begin teaching a summer English course called Literary Heroes and Villains. I know, I know, where does one begin? Well, it took all Spring semester for me to come up with some texts that I feel offer some great representations, even unlikely representations. The reading list includes Beowulf; Grendel; Frankenstein; Comus; Othello; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; 1984; and Matigari. I have divided the term up into specific focuses that I think will provide an exciting, dynamic approach. I am excited, and I think it will be a lot of fun as long as I can keep up on the reading, too. I'll let you know how it goes.
