I love Virginia. I love living in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Autumn is absolutely gorgeous here, colorful trees up and down the mountain sides, not to mention all around us and in our own yard. The weather has also been perfect autumn weather, cool temps and gentle breezes doing what they do best, blowing leaves from trees. Sadly, the temps will rise into the 70s for a few days next week. Hopefully, that won't last. We have done so many fun things this month, and they have been perfect autumn activities.
Last week we drove a little north of here, an amazingly scenic route. The destination, a family orchard, where we picked apples from trees and paid just $0.85/lb. We left with about 24 lbs of apples, and we have been busy, well, mostly Leah Marie. We have a ton of apple sauce, apple butter, and pie filling, not to mention all the apples we have eaten, and there is nothing like the taste of apples piked right off the tree. So much fun picking, and the results have been just as fun. The Things loved it, as well as the fruits (pun intended).
This weekend, we traveled to Roanoke, not necessarily autumn-related, but it was a fun family trip that allowed us to stock up on some necessities at Sam's Club and have a fun lunch. Today was Rockbridge Fall Farm Day. We took the Things through a corn maze (which we rocked) and a hay ride. They had so much fun. There is nothing like a good time with the family and watching the Things love life so much. What a blessed season this has been for us.
