Hooray, for Halloween

The storm cleared out just in time, leaving us some cold weather but a perfect fall evening for Buena Vista's annual downtown Halloween spooktacular (name: made up by me). The Things had a blast, running around and filling their bags with candy. Fortunately, we live within walking distance of downtown, so we walked down, hit all the businesses passing out candy and then hit multiple houses on the way back home. The haul was nothing like what I used to get on Halloween when I was a kid, but the Things don't know any better. One thing I did notice; in fact, it seems to be a trend: fewer homes appear to be participating in Halloween, passing out candy, that is. The closer we got to home, the farther from downtown, the fewer homes with porch lights on and people giving out candy. In fact, the last couple blocks had no porch lights on except for our house, partially hidden at the end of a dead end section of street. No one is going to find that or the large bowl of chocolate that was sitting in front of the door for the taking. All chocolate bars accounted for. What is wrong with the world today? Oh, well, on to Thanksgiving and the big one after that.
